Masters Module 1-

Project 1- Hackney East London

After the 2011 London Riots we were sent to Hackney in East London the center of the riots to observe the cultural changes taking place, immigration and gentrification, and what our perspective was on the cause of the riots.

Masters Module 2-

Project 1- We were asked to observe the Alevi Religious group based in East London. The Alevi's are of Turkish origin, but very harsh persecution and seclusion has forced many to emigrate.

Masters Module 3-

Project 1-

We were asked to document a journey through Brick Lane in East London. The area has over centuries changed drastically, but there is still a very visible history in the structures there.  My project focused on the time juxtaposition, documenting visually buildings ,and how many different groups have left a permanent mark on the built environment.

Masters Module 4-

Project 1- Dubai

We were taken to Dubai as a major project. We chose Dubai because it fit so well into our studies. The rapid urbanization, economic woes, and the large foreign population   (80% Foreign).

Masters Thesis-

My thesis focused on Robin Hood Gardens, a low income tenement built in the brutalist style by the famous Smithsons.
